Richard Keys believes that Rafael Benitez’s spell as Everton manager will ‘end in tears’
Richard Keys has been speaking in his latest blog post on his website about Everton’s appointment of Rafael Benitez.
Last week the Toffees announced the Spaniard as their new manager despite strong protests from many Evertonians, who didn’t want the former Liverpool boss to replace Carlo Ancelotti [Daily Mail].
Benitez has called Everton a ‘small club’ in the past, and he also managed 350 games as Liverpool boss and won the Champions League with the Reds.

Keys believes that Benitez’s time as the Toffees manager will not last long [Daily Mirror].
He said: “Please – no more [ex]-Liverpool players telling Evertonians how lucky they are to have Benitez at Goodison.
“No, they’re not. Most don’t want him. The majority will tolerate him, but they don’t want lectures on how they should be feeling from across Stanley Park. It will end in tears. It always does with Benitez.”
Will Keys turn out to be right?
The beIN SPORTS anchor has never been one to hide his feelings on Benitez. While he was the manager of Newcastle United, he often criticised the Spaniard and defended Mike Ashley [Keys’ Twitter account].
When Benitez was first linked with the Toffees job, Keys slated Benitez again, so it is pretty clear the former Sky Sports host is not a big fan of the 61-year-old [beIN SPORTS].

Therefore, it is probably best to ignore anything that comes out of his mouth on Benitez because he is clearly against the Spaniard no matter what.
Of course, Benitez was not a popular choice with a lot of Everton fans, but if you look at his trophy record and CV, it is hard not to think that he could be the man to bring some success to Goodison Park.
If he does that, then the likes of Keys and their agenda against Benitez can be forgotten about, which would be a relief for us all.
