Kevin Campbell: Farhad Moshiri made right decision with Rafa Benitez at Everton
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Farhad Moshiri has made the right choice to announce Rafa Benitez as Everton manager.
The Toffees owner has faced serious backlash for his decision, with the Spaniard having previously been at Liverpool.
Campbell even suggested that Benitez may well have taken Everton to Europe last season if given the chance.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “You would look at resume, has he gone to clubs that have won? Yes.
“Is he a safe pair of hands? Yes. Everton had a lot of chances last season to qualify for Europe, and even challenge for the Champions League.
“Could a tactician like Benitez have got them over the line, you need someone who has been through that difficult period, and has come through the other end – Rafa is that guy.”

Europe.
There is no doubting that we had more than enough chances to confirm our European spot this season, but we instead finished below the likes of Leeds.
Carlo Ancelotti oversaw shocking performances such as the defeats at home against Fulham and Sheffield United.
Would Benitez have allowed that to happen? Time will tell.
The Spaniard has a big job on his hands, and maybe his transfer business well be much better than the Italian.
Ancelotti concentrated heavily on midfield, despite clear gaps in defence and in the final third – Benitez will have to look there.
Training has started at Finch Farm, and the goal has to be European football, it has been far too long without it.
