Graham Roberts hits out at people who wanted Everton star Calvert-Lewin to start for England
Former England defender Graham Roberts has blasted those who claimed Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin should have started over Harry Kane at the European Championships this summer.
After a slow start to the tournament in which Kane failed to score in the group stages, the England and Tottenham striker now has four goals in his last three matches.
He scored a vital goal in the win over Germany, grabbed a brace versus Ukraine and netted the winner for the Three Lions in their semi-final victory over Denmark on Wednesday night.

After Kane’s slow start, Roberts felt as though some pundits were saying Calvert-Lewin should have started over the Spurs man.
He’s since taken to Twitter to hit back by saying: “I have to say where are all the pundits who were saying Kane should be dropped and Calvert-Lewin brought in?
“You should feel ashamed to be a pundit.”
Kane criticism was right
Is Roberts trying to suggest that Kane has been amazing throughout this tournament? Because he hasn’t.
Kane has been superb in the knock-out rounds and has played a major role in England reaching the final of the European Championships for the first time ever.
While he missed his penalty on Wednesday night, he did well to stick the rebound in the back of the net.
At the end of the day, there’s no one else we would have rather seen taking that penalty than the Tottenham man.
Kane is one of the best strikers in the world – if not the best.
Calvert-Lewin’s had a great season and there were some discussions about him replacing Kane in the starting line-up [talkSPORT].
However we didn’t really hear many calls for Kane to actually be dropped other than from fans who had a knee-jerk reaction to his group stage performances.
Roberts is quite a bitter former player. If you say the sky is blue, he’ll tell you it’s green if Tottenham say it’s green. He’s a very staunch defender of his former club.
But he’s fabricated his own outrage here – what’s the point?
In other Everton news, a BBC pundit claims these Blues stars will be unexpectedly shunned by Rafa Benitez.
