Mick Rathbone leaves Everton medical team for second time
Mick Rathbone has confirmed on Twitter that he has left his role at Everton for the second time.
Rathbone, 62, rejoined the Blues in 2018 after an initial spell at Goodison Park as a physio while David Moyes was in charge.
During his second stint at the club, the “enormously popular” physio worked with the academy to benefit youngsters.

However, in a tweet on Wednesday evening, Rathbone confirmed that he has left Everton.
“Just left Everton after an amazing second spell. To work for Everton once is to be lucky. To work for them twice is to be incredibly lucky. Thanks to everyone there for making the last 30 months so special,” said the former Blackburn player via his personal Twitter account.
Good luck, Mick
We’re not unsure why Rathbone has left Goodison Park and we doubt that we’ll ever know for sure.
The Birmingham-born physio has played a vital role behind the scenes at Everton on two occasions now and we have no doubt that he will have had a lasting impact on the youth players he helped this time around.
When Moyes was at Goodison, Rathbone was vital in helping players maintain fitness. Ex-Blues striker Yakubu once waxed lyrical about him for helping him get over an injury.
It remains to be seen what the future will hold for Rathbone but he has worked at Preston, Blackpool, Wigan and Nottingham Forest in recent years so he’s not someone who’s afraid of moving around the North-West and even heading into the East Midlands too.
He’s even worked for the England Under-17s at one point. If he’s done such a good job with the Everton youngsters then it will be interesting to see if a job at the FA comes up for him.
Either way, we wish Mick the best on his next move.
In other Everton news, a BBC pundit claims these Blues stars will be unexpectedly shunned by Rafa Benitez.
