Report: PSV expecting official offer from Everton for Denzel Dumfries

Dutch club PSV Eindhoven are preparing for an official bid from Everton for right-back Denzel Dumfries.

According to Rik Elfrink from Dutch publication Eindhovens Dagblad, Everton have shown a keen interest in signing Dumfries and while PSV haven’t received a bid yet they’re expecting one to arrive at their doorstep in the coming days.

Via his personal Twitter account, Elfrink said, “For Dumfries, it’s [transfer interest] about Everton and Inter and other names as well. PSV still has no official offer, but that is expected soon.”

Recently, Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer, said the player has been given permission to discuss a move away this summer.

On a YouTube live stream for Voetbal International, Timmer said, “He (Roger Schmidt) doesn’t really expect Malen and Dumfries back.

“Yes, of course, there are negotiations going on, and with that, it can also be counted on the negotiations that in this case, Mino Raiola is conducting with Dortmund or Liverpool, for example, for Malen and Inter and Everton for Dumfries, so he has been given that space.”

Big signing

Dumfries has been a quality full-back/wing-back for a few years, but his talents were put on display recently at Euro 2020 where he represented The Netherlands.

He played a role in either scoring or setting up their first four goals of the tournament and was a contender for best player of the Group Stages.

Everton

The Dutch side eventually got knocked out at the Round of 16 stage by the Czech Republic, but Dumfries’ value or demand in his services has not reduced.

Signing him must be a priority for Everton but we will have to beat Inter Milan who are equally interested in his signature.

Having lost Achraf Hakimi to PSG, the Italian side are in desperate need of a right-back.

The transfer may eventually go down to who’s willing to pay Raiola the most.

Journalist Ralf Seuntjens told FC Afkicken, “I heard that Dumfries has to cost €15million (£13million), and everything that is more is split by two. So suppose the transfer fee is €25million (£21million), then €15million plus €5million (£4million) will go to PSV and €5million to Mino Raiola and Denzel.”

Whatever the financials, Dumfries seems to be the perfect signing for us and we have to get this one over the line as soon as possible.
