Kevin Campbell reacts to Everton stadium announcement

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell believes the fantasy is becoming a reality for Everton as they plan to start work on the new stadium.

The Bramley Moor structure is set to start this year, and will be complete by the 2024/25 season in Merseyside.

Campbell insisted that Rafa Benitez has to start getting this side challenging for silverware, with the new stadium being built with that in mind.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “It’s real then.

“It’s not just a fantasy, it’s what the project is all about. They’ve now got to get a team who is challenging to go into that stadium.

“24/25 season, it’s only three seasons away, so before you blink. Everton and Rafa Benitez need to hit the ground running and do well.”

Historic.

We can’t wait for this to be finally unveiled, it will be an historic moment.

In three years time, we will be scaling the terraces of the new stadium and cheering on the lads from Bramley Moor.

Benitez has been brought in, and this can be seen as the first step in this new huge project for the Toffees.

The Spaniard will now be tasked with building a squad capable of bringing silverware back to the blue half of Merseyside, ready in time for the new stadium.

Farhad Moshiri and the board are showing great initiative, and now it is time for those below them to step up.
