Everton interested in summer move for Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral
Everton are interested in signing Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral this summer, according to Tuttosport.
Tottenham Hotspur and Atalanta are also keen on the Turkey international, with the Serie A giants only willing to do business for around £29.82million.
With three years still left on the contract of the 23-year-old, Juve would love to hold on to him, but they are ready to ‘sacrifice’ him to bolster their budget for the summer.
The perfect man for Rafa?
New Everton manager Rafa Benitez wants a very solid defence heading into 2021-22 given his style of play, and the current crop of options we have do not really cut it.
While he was behind the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini last season, Demiral would comfortably walk into the Toffees starting XI should he move to Goodison Park.
He could be keen on a switch to the Premier League if the opportunity comes calling, and we reckon he would be value for his money should the Toffees decide to meet Juventus’ demands.
The Turk is comfortable on the ball and is strong aerially, and is capable of hitting the ground running at Goodison Park if a move works out from what we have seen so far.
Benitez is likely to bring in at least one centre-back this summer, and Demiral looks like the player he should be signing if we are indeed serious about challenging for the top-six.
He was part of the Turkey side that failed to impress at the European Championship, but he is not to be blamed for that, and he is still attracting suitors.
