Everton deal for Asmir Begovic is accelerating quickly – Alex Crook

Everton are accelerating quickly with the deal to sign Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, according to Alex Crook.

The talkSPORT journalist shared the major update on Friday evening, insisting the Toffees will be getting a “great” option.

The Bosnian was granted permission to open talks only a matter of hours ago, and they look as though they have gone perfectly.

Crook shared the update on his personal Twitter account, as Rafa Benitez looks to plug the gaps of his squad.

Alongside the deal accelerating, the journalist also gave a glowing reference for the Premier League veteran.

“This one is accelerating quickly and Everton are getting a more than capable deputy for Jordan Pickford and even better pro,” he wrote.

“Been a great servant to Bournemouth and was a real leader last season.”

Smart.

Benitez looks to be getting things right as he starts his tenure in Merseyside.

The Toffees will need numerous transfers to sort this squad out, but we need to plug the holes left behind before going wild.

Robin Olsen leaving meant that we now have no senior cover for Jordan Pickford, and now we are getting more than that.

Begovic has made more than 250 appearances in the Premier League, and to pick him up for little-to-nothing will be great.

With the deal now accelerating very quickly, it looks as though this one could even be announced over the weekend if we are lucky.

That will leave us with another month to get some first-team signings through the door, we hope those deals prove to be as easy as this one.
