Kevin Campbell has been left stunned by Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and his start to life at the club this month.
The Bosnian arrived at Goodison Park as Rafa Benitez’ first signing, and made headlines by saving the decisive penalty to win the Floria Cup.
Campbell admitted it was a “brilliant” start by the experienced stopper, but insisted that Jordan Pickford will start as number one.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “It was a brilliant start from him.
“We all know what a good keeper he is and he won’t be overawed walking into that Everton dressing room. He’s an experienced, decent keeper.
“At the end of the day, we know who Joran Pickford is, he’s the number one. Begovic will understand when Pickford is right, he will play.”
Delighted.
Benitez will have been delighted by the start that Begovic has made.
It was a shrewd piece of business by the Toffees, bringing in a player with over 250 Premier League appearances for no fee.
Not only will it give us excellent cover the Pickford, but also provide brilliant competition that should only make the England international even better.
Begovic will have been ecstatic to make an instant impact for the club, and he will want to push as hard as he can to wrestle that number one spot away from Pickford.
This is brilliant competition, and we can’t wait to see more.
