Kevin Campbell thrilled by Demarai Gray bargain for Everton

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has hailed the shrewd business of Everton after they confirmed the arrival of Demarai Gray.

The winger has enjoyed a brilliant start to pre-season for the Toffees, scoring in the opener, and assisting Moise Kean against Pumas.

Campbell believes that Rafa Benitez could the man to unlock the consistency that Gray has been lacking for many years.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I like Gray, he’s got a lot of talent.

“The key is to fulfil that talent, I don’t think anyone can question his ability. Hopefully, he has a manager who can get him playing consistently.

“Once he gets that, he will be a very, very good signing, and it was for cheap money.

Right man.

The early signs are all positive given Gray’s start to this pre-season.

With no massive-name signings having arrived, this month could be a huge period for Benitez and Marcel Brands.

Gray likely arrived as a rotation option, but he could be forcing his way into the starting XI for the Premier League start in two weeks.

No one has had a better start to pre-season than the former Leicester City man, and for that price, he has been a massive bargain so far.

There is still more to come, and hopefully, Rafa is the man to bring the best out of the winger after struggling for many years.
