Kevin Campbell rues Everton letting Leon Bailey slip
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell can’t believe that Everton didn’t pull the trigger to try and sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
Aston Villa have confirmed that they have agreed a fee for the Jamaican speedster, as they look to win the race.
Campbell has been blown away by the attributes of Bailey, insisting he could have done a really good job at Goodison Park.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Good player.
“He’s quick, very good player plying his trade in Germany. I think there’s been a few teams who have looked at him and not pulled the trigger.
“Now was the time, and he could have done a job at either club.”

Chance gone.
Campbell won’t be the only one confused as the why the Toffees didn’t pounce, with Leverkusen clearly open to any deal.
We are crying out for a first-team winger, with Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray surely only rotation options.
Everton will need to accelerate their transfer plans going into the final month, with no major signings yet completed.
Benitez has worked on adding some good depth to his ranks, but we need bigger names in the final third.
Bailey fit that category but looks as though he will be playing elsewhere in the Premier League next season.
Time will tell if this is a mistake, but our rivals are looking much more proactive in the market this summer.
