Fernando Mendes: Everton set to sign Matheus Nunes
Everton are expected to sign Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes this summer, according to Fernando Mendes.
In an interview with Portuguese channel CMTV, as relayed by media outlet Record, the ex-Sporting player stated that the 22-year-old is on his way to Goodison Park this summer.
A Bola reported a couple of weeks ago, that Everton and Sporting are expected to announce the agreement of the player’s sale for a fee worth £15million with a further £1.5million in add-ons.

Speaking to CMTV, he said, “Matheus Nunes will be sold to Everton.”
Big if true
We’re in dire need of a quality midfield acquisition this summer and Nunes would be the perfect player to rope in.
The 22-year-old is a phenomenal technician with an engine on him to run box to box and put in a shift for 90 minutes.
He’s someone who would help us carry the ball 40 yards from our defence straight to the final third and often could continue running into the opposition penalty area to fancy a crack at the opposition goal.
Goncalo Santos, an ex-teammate of Matheus Nunes, waxed his lyrical in an interview with The Liverpool Echo.
He said, “In one game, he went on a run which was about 60 metres, it was amazing! People went crazy and everybody was talking about it.
“It’s unbelievable when he has the ball at his feet. Nobody can catch him; it’s impossible because he’s too fast.”

Nunes is the type of player in midfield we’ve craved for the last few seasons and it would be great to have someone of his calibre starting week in and week out for us.
He would give our midfield that X factor and would be a player who’s always playing with his eyes up and looking for that forward pass.
Other players in the side would also thrive with the confidence he can provide them and despite only being 22, he would have a massive influence inside our dressing room.
