Kevin Campbell: £15m a good price for Everton-linked Denzel Dumfries
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Everton signing Denzel Dumfries for £15million would be a very good deal, claims Kevin Campbell.
The Toffees are keen on signing a right-back as Seamus Coleman is on his last legs and have identified Dumfries as one of their primary transfer targets.
Ryan Taylor in the Express on Tuesday, shared that a deal for the Dutchman is still on the table and it is a position that Everton are looking to strengthen at all costs this summer.
Per The Liverpool Echo, Dumfries is valued at £15million, which Campbell thinks is a very good price for a player of his calibre.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said, “£15million-£20million is a really good price. At that price everyone’s going to be interested.
“He’s had a really good EUROs so he’s going to be coveted. It’s going to be an interesting one who gets him.”
Hope we get him
With Inter Milan understood to be keen on signing him, it puts us in a tricky situation as they can offer him Champions League football and the opportunity to challenge for the league – something he wouldn’t on Merseyside.
In terms of wages too, while they’re not in the best state financially, they have offloaded a few players, including right-back Achraf Hakimi – making it imperative for them to sign a replacement and pay him top dollar.
He’s an exciting talent arguably at the peak of his powers and is going to give us a solid four to five years at his very best.
Bringing him to Goodison Park would mean Marcel Brands and co. negotiating a killer deal with his agent Mino Raiola – something that will pose another challenge.
As things stand, we’re not overly optimistic about this one going through, but stranger things have happened in football.
