Norman Whiteside tells Benitez how he can win over Everton fans
Norman Whiteside believes Rafa Benitez will solely be judged on results at Everton despite being a controversial appointment.
The former Everton midfielder believes that the Spaniard may not be liked by a certain section of the fanbase, but says their boos will be silenced by cheers if Benitez gets off to a positive start at the cub.
In his opinion, the former Liverpool boss has great credentials, but still needs to deliver at Goodison Park.

Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, the ex-player said, “Rafa Benitez was a hugely controversial appointment but I don’t know the guy at all.
“He’s got great credentials, but there will be a few who might not take to him, a bit like Steve Bruce at Newcastle, but he’s got a job to do and football talks so if he does well then that will all go on the back-burner.”
Tough job on hand
Managing Everton is never an easy job, especially how demanding we as fans are known to be. Benitez, who’s already an unpopular name among the Goodison Park faithful could even be subject to boos for our first home game of the campaign.
However, if he delivers results, gets good players in and plays an exciting brand of football then there’s no Evertonian who wouldn’t sing his praises.

At the end of the day, more than this tribalism and hatred for Liverpool, we as fans want to see our side do well and if the club decided to appoint Benitez then there must be something to it and he must be given his time to deliver and help get us back among the elite.
That said, he’s unlikely to be given as much luxury as some of his predecessors so it’s important that this side hits the ground running from minute one or there are going to be a number of disgruntled Toffees fans calling for his sack very soon.
