Kevin Campbell hails Everton management on transfers

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has hailed the management of Everton as they crack on with their transfer plans this summer.

It has been suggested by the Athletic that the likes of Fabian Delph may have to leave before others come in.

Campbell insisted that exits may need to happen due to the large amount of money spent by Farhad Moshiri in recent years.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “It’s called smart management.

“You’ve got to manage the money and the squad. They have spent quite a lot of money in recent years, and they have to get down to managing the squad.

“That’s outgoings as well, smart moves.”

Smart?

Carlo Ancelotti and those before him have certainly been granted the money to make some huge moves.

Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez all signed last season, following the big-money move for Richarlison.

Benitez hasn’t been granted that by the board, but the Spaniard will surely have been told that in discussions before signing his contract.

Denzel Dumfries is a major target, and reports this morning suggested the Toffees now want a loan move, maybe showing how bad our budget actually is right now.

With three weeks to go in the market, Campbell is happy, and possibly we may have to wave goodbye to more than we welcome.
