Everton will look to sign PSV Eindhoven defender Denzel Dumfries on an initial loan deal this summer.

The Liverpool Echo have shared the major update after Rafa Benitez held numerous rounds of talks with the Dutchman.

Marcel Brands is keen on adding the 25-year-old to the squad after he shined at EURO 2020 with the Netherlands this summer.

It would likely be a loan with a permanent option.

Alongside Seamus Coleman, it has been quite some time since another permanent right-back has been at the club, with Djibril Sidibe not exactly impressing.

Reportedly valued at only £15million, this move to bring Dumfries on loan could prove just how much money the Toffees really have to spend.

Benitez is desperate for a right-back and a winger in this window, and a loan move for Dumfries could be perfect.

Smart or cheap?

Farhad Moshiri will surely have promised Benitez funds to spend before he arrived at the club, but we have yet to see any real money spent.

Demarai Gray is the only player to cost an actual fee as of yet, with Andros Townsend and Asmir Begovic arriving for free.

There is the possibility that Benitez was promised the majority of any funds received for selling players, with there being question marks on the future of many of our squad.

Dumfries was the most talked-about right back across Europe this summer, and for all the right reasons.

After shining at EURO 2020, £15million is an absolute steal and if Brands liked him that much, the deal should already be done.

Time to get this done, loan or permanent.
