Kieran Maguire: Everton struggling to escape FFP clutches this summer
Everton are struggling to escape the grasps of Financial Fair Play this summer as they look to strengthen their squad.
Kieran Maguire has shared that despite Farhad Moshiri and Alisher Usmanov firing cash into the club, it can’t be spent.
Rafa Benitez has been working on free transfers, but it is suggested that others may need to leave before anything else happens.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo this week, Maguire shared major updates on Moshiri and Usmanov’s financial picture.
“If you take a look at Everton’s accounts over the last few years they’ve had significant losses,” he said.
‘While I think Farhad Moshiri has the cash to spend, it’s not a case of won’t spend it’s more that they can’t spend. They are very much constricted by Financial Fair Play (FFP).
“They’ve had some very generous sponsorship deals from Alisher Usmanov’s empire which have helped them to stay within FFP but ultimately that catches up with you and they’re now in a position where they’ve got next to no wiggle room.”
Silence.
We have seen radio silence on any potential permanent transfers since the arrival of three players last month.
Demarai Gray was the only one to cost some sort of money, with Asmir Begovic and Andros Townsend arriving for free.
Moshiri will be wanting to fund Marcel Brands to get out and strengthen this side significantly, but it just isn’t going to happen.
It has been clear just how close we may be to breaking those rules, with numerous years of big arrivals and few departures.
Benitez has been somewhat let down in this window, and the heavy defeat against Manchester United on Saturday proves how far away we are from competing.
There are three weeks to go in this window, and if players such as Fabian Delph and James Rodriguez aren’t shown the exit door, not many deals will happen.
