Pat Nevin: Rafa Benitez can get the best out of Moise Kean

Pat Nevin believes Rafa Benitez can have a deadly strike force if Moise Kean stays at Everton next season.

In an interview with Tribal Football, Nevin, who’s also a pundit for BBC, urged Benitez to keep the attacker who moved to Merseyside in the 2019 summer window.

He said, “I watched Moise Kean before he came to Everton, and I thought that was going to be one of the best pieces of business in the club’s history.

“He looked amazing before arriving, but it just hasn’t worked out for him so far.

“If Rafa can get the best out of him alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin, then they will be quite an attacking force.”

Not a bad idea

Kean’s been away from the club for a while and is certainly better than the player many fans had written off not too long ago. The reason PSG wanted him back was because he is a quality player who delivers whenever the manager has needed him to.

With the arrival of Lionel Messi, they’re unlikely to pay a transfer fee for Kean, so the chances of him staying have now drastically increased.

Given James Rodriguez’s future, it’s not the worst idea in the world to hand him an opportunity to impress under Benitez.

He’s currently on the transfer list, but if there are no takers for him, he’s going to stay at Goodison Park and will offer the manager a different option in attack.

Kean’s capable of playing anywhere across the front line and, on his day, is capable of terrifying even the best of defences.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up come September.
