James Rodriguez is training away from Everton to avoid getting injured
Exit-linked Colombian attacker James Rodriguez is likely to be training away from Everton to avoid an injury, claims Sean Lunt.
Reports on Thursday night surfaced that Rodriguez along with Moise Kean were training away from the club.
The Bobble, a Twitter account that usually provides inside on the activities at Finch Farm and followed by Times and BBC journalists, were the ones to report this story.
James has been linked with a move away from the club with Kaveh Solhekol saying on Sky Sports (03/08/21) that he is unsettled at Everton and an exit is very likely this summer.
According to Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito, Rafa Benitez has also told James he’s not a part of his plans this season.
Despite those reports, Lunt, who’s widely viewed as a reliable Everton reporter for Sport Witness, stated that the 30-year-old training alone was because he wanted to avoid an injury and not because Benitez has frozen him out.
He wrote, via his personal Twitter account, “It’s far more likely that James Rodriguez is training alone to avoid getting injured than it being because Benitez is hounding him out or anything of that nature.”
Is he leaving?
With a financially depressed Covid-19 market, especially for clubs in Italy and Spain, James may stay on at the club beyond this summer.
Despite all these reports of him expected to leave and Benitez not wanting him, we’re not seeing anyone come with a credible interest in the Colombian’s services.
With only one year left on his deal, we have to sell him this summer as he is unlikely to sign a new contract and will end up leaving on a free next June.

This would be a bad look for the club as James still has decent name recognition and he could be a marketable player for someone like AC Milan.
Marca have reported that Milan along with Real Madrid are keen on the player, but nothing has progressed beyond mere transfer speculation for him.
We’re running out of time in the window and it’s imperative that we get him off our books sooner rather than later.
