Alan Myers reacts to Everton conceding against Southampton

Everton started life under manager Rafa Benitez with a victory, coming from behind to secure a 3-1 win against Southampton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

It appeared that not a lot of Toffees fans saw it coming, but they had predicted the Saints were going to score first.

Sky Sports editor Alan Myers took to his personal Twitter account to post immediately after Adam Armstrong gave the visitors the lead: “I apologise to all those Blues who predicted this!”

Everton

Impressive

Everton always struggled anytime they went behind under Carlo Ancelotti, and it appears things have changed under Benitez.

While it is too early to conclude, the supporters are not going to exercise a lot of patience with a manager most of them did not want in the first place, but the final result definitely left us impressed.

It was a tepid first-half performance from the team, and we actually expected more – which was what happened in the second-half.

Truth be told, we have not made the type of quality signings capable of firing us into the top-six, and it could spell trouble for the Spaniard if some top additions are not landed.

Everton

With Everton looking to avoid breaking the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules, we would need to part with the likes of James Rodriguez and Moise Kean in order to balance the books and get in one or two signings before the summer transfer window shuts.

Despite today’s victory, this squad do not look capable of challenging for Europe, and Benitez could end up being the fall guy if things do not go well again.
