Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira snubs Everton for Flamengo

Everton have been dealt a huge blow in their quest to sign Andreas Pereira as the Manchester United midfielder reportedly snubbed their offer.

According to Brazilian media outlet TNT Sports‘ journalist Fred Caldeira, the 25-year-old has decided to play for Flamengo, turning down an approach made by the Merseyside club.

The Brazilian believes that a move to his native country could help him realise his dreams of representing his national side.

Via his personal Twitter account, Caldeira wrote: “Andreas Pereira decides on Flamengo’s proposal. The agreement still depends on an agreement between the club and Manchester United.”

Dodged a bullet

Pereira has built the reputation of being a player who shines in pre-season and fizzles out when the big games come thick and fast.

Even this summer, he performed well for the Manchester outfit, scoring a belter of a goal against Brentford.

He wouldn’t have been an upgrade on the options we have and would unnecessarily take up space in the squad and the payroll.

Everton

Add to that, he’s still to be proven as a consistent performer in the Premier League, despite being on Manchester United’s books for years.

It’s a blessing in disguise that he wants a move to Everton as he would’ve added to our list of underwhelming summer signings.

We’re not in need of squad players, but some big names who can help take us to the next level.

The next few weeks are key and hopefully, we get at least three, if not more quality first-team players.
