ESPN: Andreas Pereira holds Manchester United exit talks, Everton have other priorities

Andreas Pereira has held talks with Manchester United over his future but Everton have other priorities ahead of the attacking midfielder, according to ESPN.

The broadcaster claims the 25-year-old is in discussions with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, director of football negotiations Matt Judge and the Brazilian’s representatives amid interest from Brazil in the form of Flamengo.

Belgian-born Pereira, who has one cap for Brazil, wants to leave Old Trafford as he seeks more regular game time.

Manchester United are said to prefer a deal with a permanent clause attached but may have to accept a straight loan move [ESPN].

However, despite Fabrizio Romano claiming via his Twitter account last week that Everton have made an approach to sign Pereira, it seems the Merseyside outfit have their hearts set on other targets.

Relief

Pereira is a decent player, but he has been wildly inconsistent during his career thus far.

Capable of playing in the middle of midfield or along the forward line, Pereira is certainly a skilful operator.

However, unfortunately, he has not been able to translate his abilities onto the pitch enough times through a season.

With his technique, he should be hitting near double figures every season, but he has only scored more than two goals once in a single campaign, and that was for Granada during the 2016/17 season.

He’s not a player we would be able to place much faith in, and we either need to be signing proven players who can instantly assume a starting role, or young talents who can develop.
