Leon Osman waxes Demarai Gray’s lyrical

Leon Osman was impressed by Demarai Gray’s performance for Everton as they held Leeds United to a 2-2 draw at Elland Road on Saturday.

After impressing against Southampton on the weekend, the former Leicester City attacker continued his good run of form and found the back of the net against Leeds.

Gray, 25, joined the Toffees for a bargain fee of £1.7million [Sky Sports], and has Osman waxing lyrical of his performances.

Speaking to Everton’s official website, the BBC pundit said, “He was terrific. I thought he was our driving force as an attacking team, the way he drove forward with the ball and was really taking the fight to Leeds United.

“The way he travels with the ball – he does it better than most players in the Premier League.

“His end product since he joined Everton has been very, very good. You’ve got to make sure you effect the game, and that’s what he has been doing.”

What a signing

When Gray’s initial links surfaced, there were many Everton fans who weren’t particularly impressed with the club’s interest in him.

He struggled to make a mark at Leicester City and did not particularly set the world alight in Germany either.

Everton

With us in dire need of quality reinforcements, Gray was understood to be signed as only a backup player, but looking at his performances now, he’s probably one of Benitez’s first names on the team sheet.

Hopefully, he takes his game to the next level here on Merseyside and continues to show the fans why Benitez brought him to the club in the first place.

We’re already enjoying his initial days and can’t wait to see how he fares in the coming games.

This could also change the club’s transfer policy and ensure they look at other areas of the pitch to strengthen.
