Everton bid for Nathan Patterson turned down by Rangers
Everton have reportedly had an initial bid for Rangers defender Nathan Patterson turned down but remain in talks with the Scottish side.
That’s according to ‘The Bobble’, a Twitter account that regularly provides insider updates on things taking place at Goodison Park and Finch Farm.
They are followed by The Times’ Paul Joyce, BBC’s Dave Downie and ex-Everton captain Kevin Ratcliffe among many others. Joyce even retweeted the update on Patterson.
They wrote, “Everton’s initial bid for highly-rated full-back Nathan Patterson, has been rejected by Rangers.
“Everton remain in talks with Rangers over a proposed transfer.”
According to The Daily Mirror, a £5million offer had been submitted for the 19-year-old.
Still in talks
Very rarely are first bids accepted, especially if there haven’t been prior talks between the clubs and players.
There could’ve been, but none were reported until the news broke of an official bid being tabled.
The Toffees hierarchy knew that they were testing the waters with an initial bid and the fact that they’re now in talks with Rangers could suggest that there is some interest from the Scottish side in parting ways with the teenager.

Patterson is one of their hottest prospects and is a favourite of manager Steven Gerrard.

We will certainly be testing the former Liverpool captain’s and Rangers’ resolve with another bid and it seems like we’re hellbent on signing the Scotland international.
He would serve as an understudy to Seamus Coleman before taking over from him in the next 12-18 months.
