Gbamin and Gordon to start for Everton in the Carabao Cup: Predicted XI

Everton have had a good start to the season in the Premier League, picking up four points from their first two games and scoring five goals.

Now, the question is can they keep that momentum going in the Carabao Cup tonight against Huddersfield Town?

Well, there is likely to be a host of changes, but we still expect to see Rafa Benitez put out a good side as the Toffees look to win their first trophy since 1995 [transfermarkt].

However, we can see Asmir Begovic coming in for his Everton debut, and we would be surprised if Mason Holgate doesn’t also come into the starting XI.

Lucas Digne and Michael Keane will stay in the side, but Seamus Coleman could be rested for Jonjoe Kenny as the Toffees might use this match as an opportunity to put him in the shop window.

In the centre of the park, we can see both Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan coming out of the team to be replaced by Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph.

Gbamin has had an absolute nightmare with injuries, and this could be the ideal game to ease him back into life and also try and make an impression and put Doucoure and Allan under pressure.

Delph’s Everton future doesn’t look great, but this could be a chance to put himself in the shop window as well [Liverpool Echo].

Moving onto the front four, we can’t see Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison or Demarai Gray starting in this match.

Instead, we expect to see Andros Townsend come back into the team as well as Anthony Gordon and Moise Kean.

Gordon could take up a position just behind Kean, while Alex Iwobi and Townsend could be very fluid and switch from wing to wing as the game goes on.

So all in all eight changes from the side that drew Leeds, but that team should still have more than enough to beat Huddersfield and progress into the next round of the cup.

In other Everton news, the club have turned down an offer for one player.
