Everton defender Ben Godfrey out of isolation
Everton have reportedly been handed a major boost as defender Ben Godfrey has come out of isolation.
According to The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland, the England international even travelled with the squad on Tuesday as they beat Huddersfield despite going down to ten men.
However, the game came too soon for him and Rafa Benitez did not feel the need to risk the 23-year-old.
Via his personal Twitter account, Boyland also addressed the qualms of an Everton fan who expects to see Godfrey starting alongside Yerry Mina for the weekend fixture against Brighton.
“Let’s see,” Boyland responded. “Not trained for 10 days +.”
Great news
Michael Keane has had a horrendous start to the new season and is likely to be dropped once Godfrey is available.
He’s already cost us two points as we would’ve won the Leeds game would it not be for his mistake, and he was also guilty of letting Adam Armstrong score on the opening weekend too, but we ended up winning that 3-1.
Keane hasn’t looked assured at the back for us and would benefit with some time away from the spotlight.

Godfrey, who had a phenomenal season at Norwich, took his game to the next level at Goodison Park and was in contention to make the Euro 2020 squad for England as well.
Unfortunately for him, he did not make the final cut, but we’re confident that in a few years, he will become a mainstay for the Three Lions.
He was also rated highly by Carlo Ancelotti who labelled him “outstanding” [Adam Jones – Echo], and hopefully he wins over Benitez as well as he is one of the best defenders at the club.
