Godfrey, Townsend to start – Predicted Everton XI v Brighton

Andros Townsend may be the only survivor for Everton from the XI that started vs Huddersfield when they play Brighton on Saturday at Goodison Park.

Ben Godfrey may return to the fold as he travelled with the squad for the Carabao Cup tie and is in contention for the weekend fixture.

According to The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland the game came too soon for him and Rafa Benitez did not feel the need to risk the 23-year-old.

Townsend didn’t feature last weekend, but performed fairly well in midweek and could be handed the start by Rafa Benitez

The new Toffees signing started against Southampton but was dropped for the following game against Leeds United, with Alex Iwobi coming in.

However, we’re expecting both Godfrey and Townsend to get the nod for Michael Keane and Iwobi.

In goal, Jordan Pickford is the undisputed number one and will start between the sticks.

It looks unlikely that a new right-back arrives in time for the weekend game, so Seamus Coleman will also start with Godfrey and Yerry Mina playing as the two centre-backs and Lucas Digne at left-back.

In midfield, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure have started both games this season and are likely to be named in the playing eleven against the Seagulls as well.

Rafa Benitez is likely to retain the 4-4-1-1 he fielded against Leeds, so we’re expecting Townsend and Demarai Gray to provide the width with Richarlison playing as a support striker to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
