Tony Bellew sends message to Dominic Calvert-Lewin after Everton win v Brighton

Everton continued their impressive start to life under Rafa Benitez with a 2-0 victory at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday evening.

Demarai Gray and Dominic Calvert-Lewin bagged the goals in either half to ensure the Toffees left The American Express Community Stadium with a first win ever.

The England international striker scored from the spot again after doing so against Leeds United last weekend, and he took to his personal Instagram account to send a message to the Everton fans.

He posted: “Enjoy your bank holiday weekend blues.”

Tony Bellew, a life-long Blues supporter, replied him in the comment section thus:

Massive win

Everton have two wins and a draw in their opening three games of the new Premier League season, and not many gave manager Benitez a chance when he was appointed.

The team are playing differently under the Spaniard, and the passion is clearly there for everyone to see.

Richarlison took that passion up a notch, though, attempting to take over the penalty duties from the designated taker.

Fortunately for the Blues, Calvert-Lewin kept his cool and helped double his side’s lead with his third goal of the league campaign in as many games.

Everton are going into the international break on a happy note, and while there is still a lot of work to do, the fans would be pleased with what they have seen so far.

Bellew is, and Benitez will hope his men can keep converting the doubters.

The former Liverpool boss will now hope to wrap some transfer businesses up in the remaining days left in the summer transfer window.

The Toffees need to move some players out and bring some in, and getting that done will help boost their chances of finishing in the top-seven this term.

In other Everton news, super agent has told the Toffees to sign a replacement for player amid major development.
