Arsenal likely to let Ainsley Maitland-Niles leave for Everton if suitable offer arrives

Everton could still seal a late swoop for Ainsley Maitland-Niles with Arsenal open to letting him leave if a suitable offer arrives.

That’s according to Dharmesh Sheth, delivering an update on Everton and the 24-year-old live on Sky Sports News on Tuesday afternoon.

“Now, remember, in the last transfer window, he moved on deadline-day to West Brom,” Sheth said.

“That’s why I’m saying keep an eye on this one because if a suitable offer was to come in I think Arsenal would consider and would talk to Ainsley Maitland-Niles and who knows, he could yet be on the move on deadline-day.”

Resurrection?

Monday [30/08/21] saw a number of dramatic developments in the potential Maitland-Niles to Everton move.

Firstly, there were reports that Everton had made a loan bid with an obligation to buy him, with subsequent claims that American-owned Arsenal had rejected the offer for a player the Blues had grand designs on competing with Seamus Coleman at right-back.

Then came the startling social media response from Maitland-Niles as he pleaded with the Gunners to let him leave and play regular football in a post on his Instagram story.

It remains to be seen whether this potential deal can get back on track, and it still feels unlikely at this stage.

But with the five-cap England international desperate to leave, it would be no real surprise to see a compromise as Arsenal surely don’t want an unhappy player on their books for another four months at least.

It seems two parties are in agreement that Goodison Park is the next destination for Maitland-Niles, now it all rests on Arsenal.
