Arsenal waiting for compelling offer to sell Everton target Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Arsenal are waiting for a compelling offer to sell Everton target Ainsley Maitland-Niles, reports PA Media Sport journalist Mark Mann-Bryans.
The Toffees want the 24-year-old right-back ahead of today’s transfer deadline, but their loan bid has been knocked back [David Ornstein].
Maitland-Niles took to his personal Instagram account yesterday to plead with the Gunners to let him leave after Everton’s proposal was rejected.
Arsenal are ready to let him, though, but only a compelling offer would force their hands.
Mann-Bryans posted on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon: “Ainsley Maitland-Niles could still leave Arsenal today.
“Club waiting for a compelling offer and have no intention of keeping him against his will if such a bid is received.”
Move off?
Everton currently are still unable to splash the cash this summer due to Financial Fair Play rules, and should they make any more additions today, it is likely to be on loan.
Arsenal are not keen on a temporary deal for Maitland-Niles, and that could rule out any potential deal between both teams for the versatile player.
He clearly wants out and has made that known on social media, and Rafa Benitez’s need for another right-back at Goodison Park means a deal for him would have made sense after a move for Rangers’ Nathan Patterson fell through.
Nothing can be ruled out, though, and having already banished him from first-team training for calling them out on social media [John Cross], both parties could solve things amicably by going their different ways in the coming hours.
Everton will need to go in with a significant bid to boost their chances of getting this particular deal done, though, and we will have to see what happens before the deadline.
