Everton bid for Ainsley Maitland-Niles deemed unacceptable by Arsenal

Arsenal believe that the loan bid from Everton for Ainsley Maitland-Niles is unacceptable, according to David Ornstein.

The Athletic reporter revealed on his Twitter account that the Gunners believe that the Toffees’ loan bid for the 24-year-old is not good enough, and you would expect Everton will have to up their offer.

The England international has asked Arsenal to let him move to Goodison Park, but the Gunners have blocked his move and have also informed him that he won’t be part of the first team going forward.

Will Maitland-Niles get his wish?

The Gunners appear to be not allowing the 24-year-old to leave but then are also exiling him from the first team, which is ridiculous [John Cross].

He clearly wants to leave, and the Toffees want him in their squad, so why are Arsenal behaving like children and throwing their toys out of the pram?

It is pathetic, really, and if they aren’t going to play Maitland-Niles, then he should be allowed to move to Goodison to play under Rafael Benitez and probably develop as a player.

Hopefully, the Gunners see some sense, and this situation is resolved, and Maitland-Niles joins Everton.

Still, given the way Arsenal have operated in this transfer window, we wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up being forced to stay in north London.

In other Everton news, one target has requested to join the Toffees on deadline day.
