Everton man Niels Nkounkou set for a deadline day loan move to Standard Liege

Everton man Niels Nkounkou is set to move to Standard Liege on loan, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky Sports reporter revealed on his Twitter account that the young French left-back is set to move to Belgium for the season.

There will be no option to buy included in the deal, but it does appear as if the 20-year-old left-back is not part of Rafael Benitez’s plans yet, and this loan could give him the opportunity to make an impression for afar.

Should Nkounkou be leaving on loan?

The Toffees only have Lucas Digne as a natural left-back if they allow Nkounkou to leave the club on loan.

So, they better hope that Digne stays injury-free for the whole season, or we could see the Toffees have to play Ben Godfrey there for an extended period of time.

So this seems like a risk to send Nkounkou out on loan, but it could be exactly what the young defender needs, and it should allow him to gain some much-needed game time.

However, we still feel it leaves the Toffees short at left-back, and it puts a lot of pressure on Digne.

Either way, though, we hope that this move works out for Nkounkou, and he returns to Goodison a better player.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have seen one move for a player hit some complications.
