Jim White moots late Everton pursuit of Donny Van de Beek, agent speaks out

Donny Van de Beek’s agent has spoken out over the Dutchman’s future amid a reported late deadline day swoop by Everton for the midfielder.

Dutch news outlet AD claimed the 24-year-old had his eyes on a late loan switch to Everton but that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked the bid.

Speaking on talkSPORT [02/09/21], Jim White said that Everton were “one club that was being spoken about as a possible berth for him on loan”.

The ex-Sky Sports presenter then played out a pre-recorded interview he had with Van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers, where he asked about the Netherland international’s state of mind after being forced to stay at Old Trafford.

“He is happy with the fact they have so much trust in him but last season was very painful,” Albers said.

“He was ready for this [a move] but it’s about choices and timing.

“In the next three or four months it will be clear if they use him. If not, we will have to find other solutions.”

Shame

It’s been a sad state of affairs for Van de Beek at Old Trafford since he made the move from Ajax last year.

A star of the Netherlands national team, Van de Beek was regarded as one of the most exciting young midfielders in Europe and was pursued by a host of top clubs.

Manchester United won the race but it’s been a disastrous showing for the Dutchman so far.

He made just four Premier League starts last season [WhoScored] and his place looks just as uncertain this season.

The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Fred are all still ahead of him in the pecking order while Jesse Lingard has returned from his West Ham loan and already appears to have usurped him.

Everton could have benefited from his late runs and goals from midfield, but it looks like both parties will have to wait until at least January for him to make the move to Merseyside.
