Everton Super Fans blown away by Rafa Benitez’s start to life on Merseyside
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Goodison News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.
Rafa Benitez, on Thursday, was nominated for Premier League’s Manager of the Month award as Everton ended August undefeated.
The Spaniard was seen as a controversial appointment, to say the least, and was not welcomed by a large chunk of the Goodison Park faithful.
However, he has done exceptionally well in his first three games in charge of the club, which has led to a number of Everton fans singing his praises instead of calling for his sacking.

On reading the news that he’s been nominated for the award, a number of fans took to Facebook to wax his lyrical.
Here’s what they said:

Deserves it
It seemed like he would’ve had a hard time adapting to life on Merseyside, given how the fans would be against him since day one.
However, after three games, he’s managed to turn the mood around at Goodison Park.
Would it not have been for Michael Keane’s error against Leeds United, the Toffees would’ve picked up maximum points from each of their three games.
That said, seven in nine is still a very good return and one the Spaniard will be proud of.

Hopefully, the good times continue post the international break and it’s not a false dawn at the start as was the case last season.
In our view, he thoroughly deserves this award as he’s worked against tougher odds and a smaller budget than the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo, Thomas Tuchel and David Moyes – all of whom are vying for it.
