Kevin Campbell hails Everton as PSG miss out on Richarlison

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has hailed Everton for keeping hold of Richarlison during the latest summer transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain were strongly linked with the Brazilian, but the billionaire-owned club couldn’t flex their financial muscle in the end.

Campbell insisted that keeping hold of match-winners is always critical, and Richarlison is exactly that for the Toffees.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Richarlison is contracted to the football club.

“It would have taken something extra special to even get Everton interested in selling him, to be honest.

“I don’t think it’s a coup, but him being at the club is a very good move because he is one of those matchwinners that the club needs.”

Everton

Critical.

Once Carlo Ancelotti left the club last season, there were fears that some big names would follow him out of Goodison Park.

Rafa Benitez has steadied the ship, and got every single player on board, excluding James Rodriguez in Merseyside.

Allowing Richarlison to go to the Olympics with Brazil helped that, and success is needed in the Premier League this season to keep him around.

Paris Saint-Germain will likely come again if they lose Kylian Mbappe as expected, and the Blues will need to prepare for that – bring it on.
