Rafa Benitez closely watching Sean Longstaff contract saga
Rafa Benitez will be closely watching the contract saga of Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, with Everton wanting to sign him.
That’s according to the Shields Gazette, who have reported that Steve Bruce and the Magpies will be revisiting contract talks in the near future.
It is suggested that contract talks have been on the agenda in the North East since the start of 2019, but have not been finalised.

The People shared an intriguing update on Sunday that will have grabbed the attention of Benitez and Marcel Brands.
It was suggested that Longstaff could be allowed to leave for free next summer, with contract talks available to other clubs from January.
Should Longstaff not sign up for longer at St James’ Park, the Toffees can take advantage with a pre-contract.
As well as that, no development fee or tribunal would be necessary – it would be a deal that cost the Blues nothing.

Ideal.
Brands could soon be unleashed onto this one to open talks early and get ahead of any competition that may arise.
This deal will suit Farhad Moshiri perfectly too, as he won’t have to spend any money should Newcastle fail with any last-gasp talks.
Longstaff will surely want to feel wanted, and with the Magpies taking their time and leaving him on the same deal for multiple years doesn’t exactly scream that.
This one could gather pace in the coming weeks and months, and Longstaff could add some much-needed depth in midfield for nothing but his weekly wages.
