Paul Brown thinks Everton have been left in a messy situation by Rodriguez
Everton have been left in a “messy situation” after they failed to get rid of James Rodriguez on Turkish transfer deadline day, according to Paul Brown.
The Daily Star reporter revealed on his Twitter account that he thinks things could get messy now after the 30-year-old turned down a move to Istanbul Basaksehir.
The Toffees and the Turkish side had verbally agreed a deal, but the Colombian decided that he would rather stay at Goodison Park and potentially not play [Antena 2].
Is this a messy situation?
Well, the Toffees are now stuck with an unhappy player on a huge wage, which you would think could cause some big problems.
Rafael Benitez has told the player that he isn’t in his plans, so we can’t see him playing much between now and January [Liverpool Echo].
Therefore, this situation certainly has the potential to turn messy, and we would hope that the 30-year-old could remain civil and not cause too much disruption.

It is not as if the Toffees prevented him from moving on; they were actively trying to get rid of him; he just chose not to go, which is a shame for all parties.
A move to Turkey could have been a chance for the Colombian to revive his stagnating career in the Premier League.
Instead, he will probably sit in the background collecting his massive wages until January, when we expect the club to try to move him on again.
