Everton will reignite their interest in Ainsley Maitland-Niles in January

Everton are set to launch another bid to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles in January, according to a report from ESPN.

They claim that the Toffees intend to revive their bid to sign the 24-year-old England international from Arsenal after seeing their summer efforts blocked by Mikel Arteta [Daily Mirror].

The Toffees attempted to sign Maitland-Niles on loan in the summer transfer window, but this time they want a permanent move for the versatile Arsenal academy graduate.

Will Everton get their man?

You can see why Rafael Benitez would want to sign Maitland-Niles because he can play at right-back, left-back or in the centre of midfield.

Given the Toffees’ lack of options in both full-back positions, reigniting a move for Maitland-Niles appears to be an absolute no-brainer really.

The player really wanted the move in the last transfer window, and if he continues to struggle for game time and Everton offer the Gunners a cash fee, we can’t see why Arsenal wouldn’t allow him to go.

Therefore, it might take longer than anticipated, but Maitland-Niles could finally arrive at Goodison Park.

This is definitely a transfer to keep an eye on as the transfer window opens again in January, and if the Toffees do make a permanent move, we would be surprised if they didn’t get their man.
