Curtis Davies: Everton should have had penalty v QPR

Curtis Davies has insisted that Everton should have had a late penalty against Queens Park Rangers this evening.

Abdoulaye Doucoure was brought down by Rob Dickie in the area, but those calls were waved away.

Davies, live on Sky Sports, questioned that and believes that the referee got that one wrong at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

Speaking live on Sky Sports this evening, Davies questioned the decision as the calls were waved away emphatically.

“I think they should have had a penalty,” he said.

“Doucoure, clumsily brought down by Rob Dickie but they were just turning the screw by making substitutions.”

Clumsy.

The tackle simply didn’t look right, but for whatever reason, the officials did not think Dickie put a foot wrong.

It could have prevented the game from going to penalties if the decision was made, but it wasn’t to be in the end.

Given that Queens Park Rangers went ahead twice, Rafa Benitez will have been delighted if his side could have come back in normal time from behind twice.

Having said that, it took great desire to do that to draw level, especially given the heavy defeat at Aston Villa over the weekend.
