Everton swoop for Donny van de Beek should be on the cards for January
Everton made a late attempt to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Dutch midfielder joined the Red Devils from Ajax for around £35million [Daily Mail] last summer, but he’s since failed to make an impact at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old had a low-key first season managing only four Premier League starts. The player’s agent, Guido Albers claimed recently that they had held talks with Marcel Brands over a possible move to Everton.

However, before the transfer deadline day, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told them that a transfer is out of the question and that he wants the player to be at the club.
“We had conversations with Solskjær and the board,” Albers told Ziggo Sport.
“We took the initiative to find a club and our search ended up at Everton. We opened talks with Marcel Brands and Farhad Moshiri.
“On Monday night [before deadline day] we received a call from Solskjær and the club who told us that a transfer was out of question and that he had to report himself to training the next morning.”
This summer, it’s been a similar story once again, with van de Beek managing only five minutes of Premier League action thus far, coming off the bench.

He made his first start in the Champions League but lasted only 46 minutes.
The Dutchman is finding it really hard to get into the side, and he must leave the club in the January transfer window, even on loan.
Everton, who operated on a really tight budget this summer, should back Rafael Benitez in the January market, and help him sign a quality midfielder.
Abdoulaye Doucoure has been a revelation for the Toffees this season, but a player of van de Beek’s calibre would add significant depth and quality to the side.
He was one of the shining stars for Ajax, scoring 41 goals in 175 games for the Dutch giants. It’s really a shame that he hasn’t been used properly, but there’s no doubt about his wealth of quality.
Ex-Evertonian Don Hutchison has now tipped the midfielder to move on on BBC Radio 5 Live.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, the BT pundit said: “If I’m Donny van de Beek, I need to move on from Manchester United.”
Benitez likes players with exceptional technical abilities, and van de Beek should fit into his system.
