James Rodriguez set to leave Everton for Al Rayyan player after agreeing three-year deal

James Rodriguez will join Al Rayyan on a three-year deal upon leaving Everton after both parties held talks on Monday,
according to AS
.

The 30-year-old Colombian international was told by Rafa Benitez weeks ago that he was not in his plans for the season, and the club permitted him to travel to Doha in order to reach an agreement with the Qatari club.

Rodriguez missed Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa, with the Toffees manager blaming his absence on muscular problems.

However, the South American was already aware of Al Rayyan’s interest and did not want to risk getting injured by joining his Everton teammates for the game.

Finally?

Rodriguez flying out of the United Kingdom to Asia to hold talks means this is something serious, and his agent Jorge Mendes would have made necessary arrangements to ensure that a move does not fall through.

From the look of things, that would not be happening and an announcement could be taking place this week if all goes as planned.

Everton want him out, and with the transfer window in Qatar not closing until the end of the month, there is a realistic chance that an exit is finally on the cards.

Benitez and Rodriguez did not enjoy working together in Real Madrid, and things were never going to work out between them at Goodison Park.

Anything can still happen until he signs on the dotted lines and gets presented as an Al Rayyan player, though, and Everton will be hoping nothing goes wrong as they badly want his crippling wages off their bill.
