Everton discuss signing free agent Serge Aurier
Everton discussed the idea of bringing Serge Aurier to Goodison Park, but decided against it, according to The Liverpool Echo.
The Toffees did not sign a right-back this summer despite Seamus Coleman being on the wrong side of 30.
There were reports linking them with moves for players all around Europe and Aurier was one they considered, but did not decide to act on it.

Good backup option
Aurier may not be the most impressive of full-backs, but he’s certainly capable of putting in a shift.
He would be better than the likes of Jonjoe Kenny, Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate are at right-back and may not have minded playing second-fiddle to Coleman.
Given Everton’s financial situation, signing a free agent would not have been the worst idea in the world and they may go on to regret this decision.

At 28, the defender labelled “fantastic” by Football FanCast, is not very old and would give at least three to four years of solid performances.
Playing him in the cups and the odd Premier League game would be enough for him and would take the pressure off Coleman not having to start in every match.
The intense workload is already taking a toll on his fitness record and he would’ve preferred having a capable understudy himself.
