Kevin Campbell points finger at Carlo Ancelotti after James Rodriguez-Everton exit
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has pointed the finger at Carlo Ancelotti as the James Rodriguez saga at Everton finally came to an end.
The Colombian left Goodison Park on Wednesday to sign for Qatari club Al-Rayyan for an undisclosed fee.
Campbell shared that Rafa Benitez didn’t fancy Rodriguez, who only came to Merseyside because of Ancelotti last season.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Don’t forget the signing was because of Carlo Ancelotti.
“He came in and he wouldn’t have come here without Ancelotti being at the club, he came to Everton because of Carlo and he did pretty well.
“Carlo left, new manager and he didn’t fancy him.”

Blame game.
Since Benitez turned up, everyone knew that Rodriguez was never going to fit in at Goodison Park this season and beyond.
The Spaniard used the playmaker in the Florida Cup during pre-season, but the 4-4-2 system just doesn’t have space for him.
Rodriguez heading off to Qatar is the best thing possible for all parties and brings to an end this saga of will he or won’t he.
It also hands the Toffees a major financial fair play boost with his supposed £200,000-a-week wages off the bill and ready to be used.
Ancelotti didn’t do much right at Goodison Park, but hopefully, this is the final stage of the rebuild really kicking into gear.
