As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Benitez said: “Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are both unavailable for selection ahead of tomorrow’s match.”

Gbamin has had an absolute nightmare with injuries since he arrived at Goodison Park in 2019, and it appears as if he has now suffered another injury, which is a huge shame.

Bad news for Gbamin.

The Ivory Coast international had made one appearance in the Carabao Cup this season, but he won’t be playing on Saturday, and we just hope that the injury isn’t bad.

The 25-year-old has only made four first-team appearances for the Toffees since the club splashed out £25million on him, so he really doesn’t need any more injury woe.

In the past, he has been described as “exceptional” by personal trainer Theo Chapelle, and you would think if he could stay fit, he could become an important player for Benitez [The Athletic].

A thigh strain should just be a little injury, and we should hopefully see the defensive midfielder back in action soon.

However, we just hope that he can avoid any more of these niggly little injuries because he deserves to avoid any more pain after the luck he has had.

Gbamin hasn’t been able to get his Everton career underway yet, and this news is just the latest setback in his frustrating spell on Merseyside.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have received a double injury boost ahead of the Norwich game.
