James Rodriguez will earn £215,000-a-week at Al-Rayyan
James Rodriguez has established himself as one of the best-paid players on the planet after leaving Everton, according to Semana.
The Colombian international midfielder, 30, joined Al-Rayyan during the week and now earns £10.3million (€12million) a year in Qatar.
That is around £215,000 (€250,000) per week, slightly higher than the £200,000 he earned while at Goodison Park.
The figure is comparable to the wages of some of the biggest names in Europe, and the player definitely got himself a huge deal.
Great
Jorge Mendes is arguably the best agent when it comes to getting some juicy deals done, and it appears he has pulled off a masterstroke again.
AS reported during the week that Rodriguez could leave Al-Rayyan for Paris Saint-Germain due to a clause inserted in his three-year contract, and coupled with his reported wages, he is not likely to regret leaving Everton.
The Goodison Park outfit are relieved to have finally moved on the highest earner in their history, and both parties needed to part ways.
Rafa Benitez was not able to spend in the summer, overseeing just a £1.7million outlay in transfers.
With Moise Kean and Rodriguez now gone, Farhad Moshiri should be bringing out the cheque book again in January or next summer, and the Spanish manager will be looking to get in more quality additions.
Everton have been impressive despite making just three outfield signings in the summer, and one can only wonder how better they will get once Benitez gets his way in the transfer market.
