Alan Shearer includes Abdoulaye Doucoure in Team of the Week

Everton returned to winning ways on Saturday with a convincing win over Norwich City in the Premier League.

Andros Townsend opened the scoring from the penalty spot and a second-half goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure sealed the three points.

Rafa Benitez will have been delighted with his side, missing Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison in the final third.

Alan Shearer has singled out Doucoure for praise, though.

The Frenchman has been sensational in this new system alongside Allan, with the flat midfield four helping him shine.

Goals against the likes of Norwich and Southampton prove that he is the perfect man to break forward into the final third when the chance arises.

Shearer has named Doucoure in his Premier League Team of the Week for his display against the Canaries, and it was fully deserved.

Easy choice.

What a display, yet again.

Doucoure is quickly becoming the main midfield man, and Allan is also benefitting from his selection alongside him.

Often under Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilian was tasked with the man to push forward and drive with the ball from the holding spot, but that responsibility has changed.

Doucoure has been given more freedom in an attacking sense to burst through the lines into the final third, and that is helping his class come through.

This won’t be the first time we see Doucoure showered in praise this season, and there will be many more spots in these sort of teams between now and May.
