Andy Townsend: Everton fans are loving Rafa Benitez’s football
Andy Townsend claims that Everton fans are enjoying Rafa Benitez’s start to life at Goodison Park.
The former Premier League midfielder believes that it’s not just the results, but the quality of football that excites the Toffees faithful.
Thus far, in the Premier League, they have scored 12 goals in six matches, and have looked devastating going forward in most games.

Speaking on the Premier League Productions’ post-match show on Monday night, Townsend, a BT Sport pundit said, “The thing about Everton fans is, when it’s fast and furious they love it. When they’re swarming at the opponents, they’re enjoying their time at the stadium and you can see it with this team.
“Rafa will always have his team going. My only question is, can they keep it up under him and for how long? It remains to be seen.”
Can the good times last?
Everton fans will be forgiven for not getting carried away as they have watched their side enjoy good starts and eventually taper off in the second half of seasons.
Last year too, Carlo Ancelotti made this Toffees side look like title contenders initially, and they then went on to miss every target to achieve European football and ended up in a dismal 10th place.

Benitez, to his credit, has done phenomenally well with nearly no funds to spend in the transfer market.
Even if he keeps this side in the top half and maybe pushes for European places, it may be enough to pacify the fanbase.
The board must also do their part in January and give him the funds he needs to strengthen this side.
There seems to be a proper plan behind the Spaniard’s good start at Goodison Park and it would be infuriating if he loses his job because of the board’s failures.
