Kevin Campbell: Lucas Digne lucky not to be sent off for Everton v Norwich
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton defender Lucas Digne was lucky not to get sent off against Norwich.
The Frenchman was deemed to deliberately handle the ball while on a yellow card, but escaped a second caution and red card.
Campbell believes it would have been a big blow to have him suspended against Manchester United as Rafa Benitez needs him.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think he was in the scheme of things.
“It would have been harsh but I think he’s still lucky because the way these decisions get made now, that wouldn’t have been nice.
“They need him.”
Lucky.
It doesn’t make much sense, but we will take it.
Given that Norwich were given the free-kick and Digne was deemed to have handled the ball deliberately, we were all waiting for the second yellow and red to follow.
Daniel Farke was left fuming by the decision, or lack of, and it is understandable – but it is the luck that we needed.
Benitez certainly needs Digne, especially at Old Trafford with no rotation options behind the French international.
Ben Godfrey may have been forced to move across to the left, but that only would have happened if Seamus Coleman is available too.
Thankfully, we have got away with one here and this is a panic that won’t happen once we arrive at Old Trafford with the majority of our squad available.
