Manolo Gaspar suggests that Rondon moved to Everton for financial reasons
Malaga sporting director Manolo Gaspar has suggested that Salomon Rondon only moved to Everton because of financial reasons.
Speaking to 101 tv [via the Liverpool Echo], he claimed the Spanish side made an offer to Rondon but he chose to move to Goodison Park because of the finances on offer.
Gaspar suggests that the big Venezuelan didn’t actually want to play for the Toffees for the right reasons and has only joined Everton to boost his salary.

He said: “I did everything possible to bring in Rondon, but it was impossible. He is in the Champions League [a likely reference to his salary level], and we are reborn.
“We made a consultation, and economically it was possible. I understand that a player’s career is short, and you’re a Malaguista until they touch your pocket.”
Harsh claim on Rondon.
The big 32-year-old striker might well be on a good wage with the Toffees, but he is a proven Premier League striker, so we don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
He has also worked with Rafael Benitez twice, so we can imagine that was a big draw for the former Newcastle United striker, and to suggest that he joined Everton for purely financial reasons is harsh [Daily Mail].
If that were the case, then we are sure he could have moved to a club in the Middle East or something like that.

However, he wanted to come back to the Premier League and play under a manager who trusts him and for a club looking up the table.
He has been described as “unbelievable” by Jim White , so you can see why the manager wanted to work with him again [talkSPORT 18/03/2019].
This just sounds like a bit of jealousy from Gaspar, really, and we don’t believe Rondon moved to Goodison for just financial reasons.
In other Everton news, the club have made progress in contract talks for one teenage sensation.
