Everton player ratings against Manchester United

Everton played Manchester United in the Premier League’s early kick-off and drew 1-1, which has kept their top-four hopes alive heading into the international break.

The Toffees started on the back foot, but they grew into the game and arguably had the better chances.

However, a lovely move from the Red Devils ended with Anthony Martial slamming the ball into the back of the net. However, a fantastic counter-attack ended with Andros Townsend smashing the ball into the net.

Everton

Jordan Pickford – 6

Excellent save to deny Edinson Cavani in the first half. He could do nothing about the Martial goal. He then dealt with everything else thrown at him.

Ben Godfrey – 7

Solid defensively, but you can tell he is not a natural right-back when he wanders forward. He had a few crossing opportunities but failed to deliver. He played one very clever pass that should have ended as a goal.

Yerry Mina – 6

Surprisingly had little to do but was solid enough. He could do nothing about the goal.

Michael Keane – 6

Lost Cavani in the first half and was bailed out by Pickford. Then made up for it in the second half with a few crucial interventions.

Lucas Digne – 5

Handed the captain’s armband but couldn’t lead by example. He was much better going forward than defending his flank.

Allan – 6

He made a few very strong tackles but offered little else either on or off the ball. However, he stayed on despite looking injured near the end.

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 8

Started slowly but grew into the game and advanced forward, and caused problems for the Red Devils. He played a massive role in the goal as he played Townsend in. Booked.

Andros Townsend – 7

Started off slowly but grew into the game and was an outlet on that right-wing, finished off the sublime counter-attack.

Anthony Gordon – 7

Involved in a lot of Everton attacks, showed pace and quality delivery in the first half. Not afraid to work hard for his team or get stuck in. Really impressive stuff from the young Evertonian.

Demarai Gray – [Man of the Match] 9

Saw little of the ball at the beginning but was a constant livewire for the Toffees and saw a fine strike tipped away by David de Gea. He played a huge role in the equalising goal.

Everton

Salomon Rondon – 4

Held the ball up on occasion, but when given opportunities in the first half, he took too long to get his shots away. Clearly lacking match fitness.

Substitutes

Tom Davies (72) – 4

He came on for Gordon and worked hard, but should have had a shot when slipped through by Godfrey.

Lewis Dobbin (90+2) – N/A
